This week is all about EPP – English Paper Piecing. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with EPP. I’m fine with basting hexagons but other shapes make me frowny.
Jodi from Tales of Cloth has written a series of posts on EPP with her tips and tricks.
EPP 101 – Planning and stitching – I don’t whipstitch my pieces together I ladder stitch, this might go against the grain of the “thing to do” but it’s my preference. I don’t like seeing my stitches with whip stitching.
EPP 101 – The basting debate – definitely personal preference on this one. I’m on the fence with glue basting, though some shapes definitely lend themselves to it. Hexagons I do like to thread baste and NOT through the papers.
Jodi is having an EPP shape competition with some great prizes, buy her Shape Family Pack and get designing. You have until 30 September.
I also came across this handy guide from “Love Patchwork and Quilting” about fussy cutting EPP for kaleidoscopic effects (that’s a mouthful!). Get on over and grab it, super useful.
“Have you seen” is a hump day reprieve for the middle of your week, I’ll share stuff from the interwebs that I think you’ll guys will be interested in. If you have something you’d like to share, leave a comment!
