Naval gazing

Ok, you’ve had a great weekend so far. You’ve been knitting, watching nearly the whole first series of "Love My Way", which is excellent. Cooked for yourself, you’ve gotten slack living alone, toast is NOT dinner (BTW it was roasted carrot and pumpkin soup, with ginger, garlic, vegetable stock, cumin and a pinch of chilli). Cleaned a bit, enough to feel ok about sitting on your ass and knitting. The weather’s cooling down, you went to the gym 3 times this week, so less guilt about sitting on your ass (you seeing a pattern here?). You’ve even grocery shopped, gone to a girlfriend’s for a cuppa, baked some cakes and had a new friend over for afternoon tea. Then late Saturday afternoon you’re noticing a headache. Hmm feels like migraine…aah I’ll ignore it, keep knitting and watching the DVD. By about 9.30pm, you’re thinking, bugger, it’s migraine, check cupboard, crap no drugs for headache. Think to yourself, I can sleep this off, knowing from past experience that this is a dumb idea, but you don’t want to get out of your ugg boots and sloth outfit, get in the car, drive to the shop..you get the idea.

So you go to bed. You fall asleep about 10pm……….cut to 2.30am where you wake up with the eye throb. You know the one, feeling nauseous and trying to not focus on the pain. Look over at the alarm clock it’s 3.26am. FARK. Denial is over, get dressed, get into car, drive to shop, get what I need, not making eye contact with dude behind counter, yes dude I have bed head, drive home, make a cuppa, take the pills and SURF THE NET. Yeah, great for headache. Can’t lay down straight after taking pills, past experience, I’ll spew, don’t want to spew, liked my dinner and want it to stay where it is. Sexy hey!

It’s now about 4.53am. The pain is subsiding, you think it’s time to go back to bed. Not many things can make me smile at this time in the morning, but Wendy at Knit and Tonic flashin’ her stash had me laughing out loud.

Moral of the story. Don’t be a lazy bastard, go and buy the pills BEFORE the headache is full blown…however if we’d done that we might not have stumbled across the stash flashin’. Silver lining.

Side note – my buddy Kelli has a new blog. Great design Kelli and congrats!

So sorry you had a migraine. I hope you feel better.
No medication can get rid of my migraines and I get the worst ones. I always lose sight out of one of eyes. That’s the sign the migraine is coming! All I can do is lay in bed with my head feeling like it’s going to burst and trying not throw up.

How awful. Hope you’re feeling better. I’ve only had a hand-full of migrains but I remember thinking…if someone had of said, here, drink this nail polish remover and your migrain will disappear!…I would have.

oooh, I hope you are feeling better by now! I have to say, the one downside I’ve found so far since living alone is that there isn’t a whole lot you can do when you get sick. You’ve got to count on great friends and your own ability to haul your arse to the pharmacy.
    Otherwise, the soup sounds yummy!
