it had to happen

We couldn’t be the IV’s and not knit, THE KNIT, you know the one. The clap. Clapotis, pronounced clapotee. Probably THE most knitted pattern from knitty. I’ve been itching for ages to knit one. So I’ve got my 3 skeins of lion and lamb in black purl, my 5mm addi’s and my clover stitch markers, I figure this knit’s gotta have the all the branded gear.

I’m in the early stages, but I’m loving the yarn, loving the addi’s and the pattern, well Kate is genius. She is an excellent pattern designer and I really look forward to seeing what she produces in the future.

If you stick clapotis into flickr you get over 700 pics back! Insanity.

Nice stitch markers. I’ve got some cruddy el cheapo ones from spotlight.
And for a moment there I thought you were accusing me of genius, and I was all like “what the hell for? I’ve done like, 15 rows of the clap and ripped it back one, genius I aint…” and then I realised you weren’t, ahem.
Of course, now I’m thinking I may need to change to a circ as the damn thing grows.

it is hard to resist the clarion call of the dropped stitches – so much so, in fact, that i’m midway through my second, a lighter, scarfier clap knit in sock yarn on (moderately) large needles. i still love this pattern to death, too, even the second time through!

In other news, project reknit the clap for the third time has been successful thus far, but has eaten into my marking time rather diastrously. Damn you knitting! *shakes fist a yarn stash*

ahhh, welcome to the wonderful world of the clap! I adore the pattern and am looking forward to making a second. Can’t wait to seeing yours – that’s a beautiful colourway!
(and just wait till you get to the dropping stitches part – such fun!)

I knitted my Clapotis in the same colourway using 5mm Addis; my gauge was right but I needed to buy a 4th skein of the yarn. I’ve got about half a ball left. It looks lovely though!
