crewel to be kind.

It’s a crewel, crewel world; don’t be crewel to a heart that’s true. I’m sure there’s a whole bunch more, but these are the ones that come to mind.

My first go at crewel for Em’s birthday using a transfer pattern from Wool & Hoop. Fun stitching, a little mindless but deceptively tricky to keep neat. The colours I know she’ll love, but I’m wondering now if I should have gone for three similar colours as suggested in the book.

Double sided fusible web ironed on to the back of the embroidery, I then trimmed the piece leaving a 1-2cm edge for fraying (don’t put fusible web on this part) and then ironed onto a piece of board. Simply framed in a shadow box. More crewel work coming soon.

My Socks That Rock kit arrived and I’m itching to get them on the needles, but first up a knitted scarf and vest for The Son. Do you think the sweater curse comes into play for gay couples?? I’m also moving house mid April, yes I’ve become a home owner with The Son. Very exciting. I’m choosing furniture and thinking colours and prints and lighting and all those soft furnishings I’ve always wanted to make for my own home. There’s just not enough time in the day, I know, terrible problem to have isn’t it. So expect to be assaulted with home themed posts over the next few months. I’ll also be introducing The Son’s 16 year old kitty, Esme, to Spud. Esme is super lovely and I don’t want Spud to terrify her. I’m hoping he’ll see her as a grandma figure. Pffft I hear you cat owners say, well, we’ll do our best to make it work. Pics of Esme soon for you cat lovers.

OMG, for a minute there I thought you had some secret love child in the closet, but I have just figured it out – doh! Have fun, happy home owners. And that is one very cool crewel, which is quite difficult to say very quickly.

And no, that curse doesn’t apply. Or even exist in my mind.
