Well….the painter hasn’t been back yet. A mixture of him being called out to other jobs and then me coming down chronic gastro Sunday morning early and having to cancel him. Said gastro also resulted in me at the docs after 8 hours of vomiting and waiting for it to "pass". The Son decided enough was enough, fair enough too, I’m a noisy porcelain bus driver and she was a trooper. So a needle in the butt for me. Seems this blog’s about my butt at the moment, for those of you that know me in the flesh, you know I have enough butt to go around. So another week waiting, waiting.
This is what the crafty space is looking like in all it’s evening glory. See the green patch, that’s going to be the whole room. Flat acrylic so no shiny green snot here. I’m a little scared but am going through with the green. Kiwi Fruit here I come.
Spud’s getting used to new furniture, here he is testing the new sofa. See the glowing orange in the background. That was meant to be a flat acrylic….however long story short painter didn’t tell me until after he’d bought the paint and painted the wall that this base doesn’t come in a flat acrylic. So after a weekend of hating and then not minding the low sheen we’ve decided we can live with the low sheen. For those of you interested, Dulux Orange Wood. It wraps around to the dining room.
I’ll leave you with a very blurry night shot of the dining room chairs.
Here’s to a painted crafty space…
Nothing like the motivation of a new toy like Ravelry to finish a WIP and continue with another. I received my invite to BETA test and have dived right in. It is very very cool. Super powerful database they are building.
First up, one of many WIP’s I’m sure for my oldest friend Al M’s new bebe. Due in early August. I’ve seen Al knit these and bought the pattern ages ago, well I bought a kit. This knit is the cardigan from the Red Set Go set by Monkey Suits using GGH, GOA. Super quick. Buttons from The Quilting Heart, I had to buy a few more for the stash whilst I was there.
Next a WIP for The Son. Well my first WIP for The Son. A scarf. Was intended on being a simple project and it is, sort of. There’s a few too many yarn over, K2tog, SSK’s for my liking but I’m getting there. Chart pilfered from Interweave Knits, Favourite Socks (thanks to Al M for the suggestion), rest of it I made up. I’ll put the pattern up after it’s finished. Using Artyarns Handpaint Stripes, I planned on 2 skeins, but have a third up my sleeve, I’ll stop when the scarf’s reached the desired length for the missus.
Listening to Katie Noonan’s new song, Time to Begin. Beautiful.
Howdy ya’ll. Thanks for the response to my last embarrassing story. Glad to amuse as always! It was a tough choice but in consultation with The Son we decided that Monica’s story about the "friend" with the false labor due to an M&M smeared in her knickers wins. Monica, if you’re reading drop me a line and we’ll chat.
Getting there slowly, slowly. Craft room STILL in boxes and I’m starting to get twitchy…Painting nearly finished, my crafty room is last and he’s gone on holiday’s for a week….Yep. So waiting patiently, knitting The Son’s scarf, getting my creative kick from baking and playing with the camera.
Almond and Rhubarb Cake – Yum and more yum.
Hallway – painted. Ceiling Dulux White On White, walls, Harlem. Toilet – 1970’s LILAC. Yes, we have a lilac throne. We’ll be living with the lilac for a little while yet…
Gillian and Paul bought us a house warming worm farm. Me hinting helped 🙂 I LOVE IT. All the vegie scraps go to the worms. Looking forward to harvesting worm juice and casings and putting them on the passionfruit vines I’m planning on planting. Also, no pictures yet, but that pomegranate I mentioned, well it’s actually a guava tree. Yellow guava’s with pale flesh. The smell super sweet and I’m not quite sure what I think of them yet. Made one batch of guava jam, so-so.
Wattle next door.
Until next time….keep on crafting and keep your chewing gum out of your pants!
