rag rug complete!

It's done! It's heavy and I killed my wrist and hand crocheting it but I think I sorta like it. It falls in the yum/yuck category for sure. A great stash busting project and it came together pretty quick. I ripped 1.5-2 inch strips. 12mm crochet hook. Magic loop to start. Single crochet around into previous round with a single crochet between each. Final round 2 single crochets between. That's about it. Thanks to Jodie for the inspiration, check out the flickr group for other's rugs!

down under quilt swap

I am overdue sending this! And it's been four weeks since I posted. Far out! This is for the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap. I can't tell you who it's for as they haven't received it yet. The front is a vintage feed sack and I circle pieced the button print in the top right corner using this genius tutorial. The backing is a vintage sheet, no picture as I seem to never have any time during daylight to photograph these days. I hope they like it!

New job is awesome. Never thought I'd say that about a day job, but I'm really enjoying it which is fabulous. Sondra and I are continuing with our personal training and it's going really well. I still have a bucketload of weight to lose but my fitness and mobility has improved hugely. Thinking we'lll start crossfit lessons in the new year which scares the crap out of me but I think will be a great challenge. Reckon I'll be able to do a handstand pushup on my 40th next year? Maybe not, but I hope to be well on my way, the great thing about crossfit is it's all about progression and working towards goals. One of my crossfit inspirations is Kristan Clever (aside from our trainer, Tracy, she totally rocks),  she won the crossfit games this year, aside from watching her compete, listening to her is awesome. She's positive and has an amazing attitude.

Ok, over and out and happy crafting!

EDITED: Oh and today is RUOK day. Reach out and check in with smeone, ask them if they're ok. Having been living with depression for over 10 years and having had suicidal thoughts in the past I can say that knowing people cared about me and checked in with me was a huge help and relief.

yum yuck?

I'm not sure about this. This is my finished Scrappy Pincushion Swap. It had a bumpy road. I was happy with the finished paper pieced fabric. See…61 half inch hexes.

The idea was I'd create a pillow to sit in this vintage Japanese wooden bowl….I had some fit issues. And it wasn't working as I'd seen…so out came the mini felt beads and I think I'm happy with it. It might have a little yum yuckness about it. The large red felt bead and grey petals are for needles so that they don't disappear into the pincushion. It's about 6inches in diameter. Hoping my partner enjoys it.

AND to finish off an average working week I received this loveliness from Georgia. Well there are more goodies but they've been absorbed into the craft room, check it all out here. LOOK at those apple pins, they are so adorable and both of the cushions are super delicious. Thank you Georgia for such an enjoyable swap.

teatowels received

*cough* quite a while ago…I just haven't had the time to photograph them. So yesterday afternoon I had some time, was running out to the washing line to hang them from it and photograph and then it started pissing with rain. Yep, pissing. Determined, I used the outdoor table instead. This was such a fun swap, thanks Sooz for organising it, totally loved all I received.

Sooz has generously organised another swap, the "put to good use" swap. It's a bloody ripper and I wish I could play this time, but I'm going to have to sit this one out. You have until the 30th May to sign-up, so get on over and play.

Kristen Doran – I love Kristen's work.

the quilt project

Kirsty put a call out on her blog for participants in a redwork project that would end up as a quilt that would be displayed and then disassembled. The end result is amazing! An awesome collection of redwork from around the globe. She also put together a fabulous website so those of us too far to travel can get a look at it. Here's my post about my square and The Quilt Project's website, go and check it out, particularly the digital quilt which allows you to see each square and ready about the creators idea. Thanks again Kirsty.
