About the pattern

Make an adorable sewing accessory that's not only cute but functional!

The pattern includes colour instructional photos, tips and tricks for getting your apple pincushions looking amazing and plump. They're the perfect size to sit next to you whilst doing handwork, or next to your sewing machine (or in the throat of your machine which I often do). As they're stuffed so well, getting pins in and out is a breeze!

This is a PDF download and will be delivered to your inbox. Tap DOWNLOAD PATTERN, and then tap to download to save file/s to your computer, laptop or cloud storage. We do not recommend saving files to tablets or mobile devices, unless you are experienced with doing this.

👉 If you're trying to download patterns quickly, and clicking on the PDFs one after the other, some internet browsers can't keep up. Some will also ask you for 'permission' to do multiple downloads. We recommend waiting for each pattern to download and save fully before clicking on the next one.

Supplies Needed

  • Felt for 2 apple leaves, 2 x 4" square, the leaves are the needle keepers
  • Small pieces of coordinating fabrics, approximately 6" x 4" each, 4 per apple
  • Lightweight iron-on interfacing
  • Stuffing of choice
  • Wood button approximately 18mm (¾") diameter
  • Strong thread, either crochet or other
  • Stuffing tool - I use a Barbara Willis Regular stuffing fork, but you can use chopsticks or hemostats to stuff
  • Thimble
  • Long needle, eg a doll needle 8cm/3" in length
  • A piece of braided cord for the stem, 3mm/⅛ thick and about 10cm/4" long
  • Sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Iron

I'd love to buy a made apple

I have one launch a year of apple pincushions made by me. There will be limited numbers of these available in fun, scrappy patchwork fabrics and also some exclusive Liberty Tana Lawn pincushions and OOP fabrics like Heather Ross Lightning Bugs prints. By signing up for the newsletter you'll have first notice of pre-made launches.
