Fabric Selection Tips
Dive into your fabric stash and unleash your creativity with Topsieturvy! Here's how to make the most of your fabric selection:
- Choose a hero fabric: Select a standout fabric to serve as the focal point of your quilt. The centres of the block are a nice sized square, perfect for fussy cutting a treasured print.
- Mix and match: Pair your hero fabric with a scrappy mix of complementary fabrics to create visual interest. Plaids, stripes and spots can add to the pattern magic.
- Consider print and colour placement: Experiment with different arrangements to achieve the desired effect.
- Balance bold prints with solids: mix vibrant prints with solid fabrics (I’m allergic to solid fabrics #kiddingnot kidding) to create contrast and balance.
- Pay attention to scale: vary the scale of your prints for visual interest.
- Experiment with colour gradients: create depth and movement by arranging fabrics in a gradient from light to dark or vice versa.
