Babushka

I've become obssessed with embroidering and cross stitch and crochet edging. Excuse the lack of ironing.

Babushka

See more. I want to crochet all edges of all things.

Babushka

I ripped my palm. I guess it's a crossfit rite of passage.

You can't pee in peace, this is my pee buddy.

See, cross stitch. Itty bitty apple about 12mm high. I blame Mrs McPorkchop.

hi and bye

Just dropping in to say hi and bye. Off to a retreat with my lady for the weekend. Got movies, food, a spa and that's about it. Oh a little crafting will creep in too. Nanny's coming to stay with the fur kids.

Added a bunch-o-apples to the shop if you're interested and there are also gift vouchers.

Have a good one, I know I will!

silent community

Ok, we can officially say I'm sucking at Blogtoberfest! Onwards and upwards…

These guys? What do you think they're thinking? I reckon they're all murmuring to each other, they know they're going to be stuffed into a suitcase, getting handled all day and hopefully going off to homes today. Any left I'll stick in the online shop.

blogtoberfest – aka kicking my ass

Yep, it's official Blogtoberfest is kicking my ass. Or it could be that I work full time and have committed to two markets next weekend, on the same day as well as participate in Blogtoberfest, yeah me smart. Luckily I have my sweets to pick up my slack around the home. She really is a gem. She doesn't complain, well she likes to make some noise at me to remind me how lucky I am, but I know this. I couldn't work full time and do the crafty thing without her support. So when I said to her today "honey can you lay on the sofa and I'll cover you in unfinished apples and take a picture because I need blog fodder", she was all "sure thing". A real doll.

cutting

Today I spent a few hours cutting fabrics for apples. For kits and finished apples. There's a sort of process. Firstly I select sets of four different complimentary fabrics, wading through the stash, picking combinations, I love this part. Then there's the cutting, cutting matt, quilters ruler and rotary cutter at the handy, the only way. Cutting, cutting, cutting. I also cut the interfacing into strips, I've found it's easier to do use it this way.

From there it'll be a few hours fusing fabric strips to interfacing. Then tracing the apple pattern piece and then finally hand cutting all the pieces. At this point, I'll be wishing it was affordable to buy my own fabric diecutter with a custom die! Then, then I start sewing them all. I usually sew 10 to 20 at a time. Then stuff, stuff, stuff, insert the stem, hand sew the button on and felt leaves. Phew. Repeat over and again 🙂 I'm not complaining, as long as they're wanted I'll make them.

Ok. Over and out. Happy Crafting!

snippet

Just a little snippet from a project that will be published later this year. That's all I can say for now.

Bit quiet here this week. It could be the thought of gearing up to cut out, fuse, sew and stuff 100 apple pincushions for October. Thanks too for those of you that have shopped. Mucho appreciated. I have some new scrabble tile pendants in the works that I'm going to put up at the website first. See what you guys think.

I'm looking forward to getting my mitts on some of Rosalie Quinlan's new fabric range too, delish.

Ok, over and out, happy crafting!
