It’s the tiny but mighty bucket you didn’t know you needed!

The Lil’ Scrap Bucket is a quick, useful little fabric bucket designed to sit beside you while you sew and catch all those thread tails, fabric trimmings and tiny scraps that otherwise end up everywhere.

Use one as a thread catcher for a particular project, make the smallest size for quilt clips and notions, or stitch up a few different sizes to keep around your sewing space.

The clever bit is in the construction. There’s no interfacing or batting (wadding) required. The folding, stitching and gentle gathering give the bucket its shape, while still allowing it to fold down flat when it’s empty, making it wonderfully portable.

The pattern includes the measurements for five different sizes, from a tiny 3" bucket through to a generous 7" bucket, so you can make the size that suits what you want to stash inside.

You can machine sew the first stage and finish the bucket with hand stitching, or sew the entire project by hand if you prefer

Finished sizes

Approximately:

  • 3" × 3" / 7.5 cm × 7.5 cm
  • 4" × 4" / 10 cm × 10 cm
  • 5" × 5" / 12.5 cm × 12.5 cm
  • 6" × 6" / 15 cm × 15 cm
  • 7" × 7" / 17.5 cm × 17.5 cm

Perfect for scraps, thread tails, quilt clips, notions and all those tiny sewing bits that need somewhere to live.

Quick to make. Easy to use. Very hard to stop at one.
